What you need to know about your HETI Scholarship
The Graduate Certificate in Acute Care Nursing and Graduate Certificate in Child and Family Health are designed to fit seamlessly into your life, offering 100% online learning with the flexibility to balance work, study and personal commitments. Starting on 10 March 2025, this part-time course requires just 15–20 hours per week, making it an ideal choice for busy professionals.

Before beginning your application, speak to one of our dedicated Student Enrolment Advisors so they can help feel prepared and answer any questions you may have about the application process.
Step 2: Prepare your documents
Before you start your application, you will need to prepare your documents.
This may include:
- An up-to-date resume
- Your academic transcript
- Your "AHPRA" (Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency) registration number
- A statement of service signed by your current employer
A Student Success Advisor will be able to let you know what documents you will need for your chosen course.
Ensuring you have all documentation ready before you apply can help avoid delays in processing your application.

Step 3: Submit your application
Once you have spoken to a Student Enrolment Advisor and collected all the documents required to support your application, you are ready to start your application.
Provided you have all the required documents, you can complete your application in just 15-20 minutes. Afterwards, you'll receive an email confirming the submission of your application.
You will then be able to:
- Track the status of your application via the UTS Online Student Portal
- Receive correspondence from UTS Online via email for further documentation to process your application
- Receive an application outcome via email.
All admissions correspondence from the University will be sent to the email address used to create your UTS Online application profile.
Your 2025 study plan
Graduate Certificate in Acute Care Nursing
- For Session 2, you will commence on March 10 with ‘Evidence for Informing Practice’
- For Session 3, you will commence on May 5 with ‘Nursing Sensitive Indicators in Acute Care’
- For Session 4, you will commence on June 30 with ‘Specialty Clinical Practice’
- For your final subject in Session 5, you will commence on August 25 with ‘Recognising and Responding to Acute Deterioration'
Graduate Certificate in Child and Family Health
- For Session 2, you will commence on March 10 with ‘09001 Foundations of Child and Family Health’
- For Session 3, you will commence on May 5 with ‘090003 Growth and Development in the Younger Child (First 1,000 Days)’
- Includes 40 hours of placement (preferably in a Tresillian setting but can alternatively complete this in the child and family health setting). This can be completed in up to two sessions to allow for any theory or compliance to be completed before starting your placement.
- Please note: Students will automatically receive the "Q" grade after SP3 so that there is an extra session to finalise their placement, allowing for grades to be confirmed by results release SP4.
- For Session 5, you will commence on August 25 with ‘090002 Family and Community Health in Practice.’
- For your final subject Session 6, you will commence on October 20 with ‘090004 Growth and Development in the Older Child (Preschool Years)’
- Includes 80 hours of placement in a child and family health setting.

FEE-HELP Loan
FEE-HELP is a loan scheme provided by the Australian Government to assist eligible students with their university fees. It can cover all or part of your tuition costs, and repayment is made through the tax system once your income exceeds a designated threshold.
You are eligible for FEE-HELP if you are an Australian citizen or hold a permanent humanitarian visa and reside in Australia while studying.
However, New Zealand citizens and holders of other types of permanent visas are not eligible for this scheme.
FAQ's about course applications
The scholarship only covers one attempt at each subject.
If you need to retake a subject, you will be responsible for the cost of any additional attempts.
- If you withdraw after the census date of your own accord, you will need to pay for your next attempt at the subject.
- If you withdraw after the census date and have Special Consideration approved, a credit will be applied for your next enrolment in the subject.
If you withdraw from the course, you will lose your scholarship. Scholarships cannot be transferred to another year.
You may be eligible for one session of leave, as the course must be completed in the year you commenced.
- They apply for deferment due to special circumstances
- Extenuating circumstances require a different start session, which will need HETI approval

A Student ID card is required for clinical placement. Follow these steps:
- Review ID requirements: Familiarise yourself with the UTS photo ID requirements.
- Upload your photograph: Use the UTS photo ID requirements to upload your ID photo.
- Check your UTS webmail: Look for further instructions after uploading your photo.
- Sign the back of your card: Upon receipt, sign the grey strip on the back.
Delivery information:
- ID cards will be sent to your preferred local address. Ensure your address is up to date in My Student Admin
- Delivery may take up to 10 business days via Australia Post.

Yes, applications under a different name are accepted. Please provide supporting documentation, such as a marriage certificate or change of name document.
