What you will study

The UTS Online Graduate Certificate in Property Development comprises four subjects (24 credit points (CP) in total).

CORE SUBJECTS

Complete all of the following subjects:

  • Property Transactions
  • Construction Technology and Regulation
  • Property Development Process

Flexible course options

The Graduate Certificate in Property Development comprises 4 subjects (24 credit points (CP) in total).

Students who complete the Graduate Certificate in Property Development may qualify to advance to the Master of Property Development, requiring only 8 additional subjects to complete the Master's degree.

Students who complete eight subjects (48 CP) from the Master of Property Development may be eligible to exit with a Graduate Diploma in Property Development.

Learn to assess and address the social value of developments, ensuring that projects contribute positively to community liveability and sustainability while managing risks associated with climate change.

Entry Requirements

Entry requirements

  • Applicants must have completed a UTS recognised bachelor's degree, or an equivalent or higher qualification.

OR

  • Applicants who do not satisfy the academic requirements may be considered on the ability to demonstrate equivalency through a minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience*, as listed below:​ 
    • Qualified tradespeople (e.g. electricians, carpenters, plumbers, and builders) 
    • Licensed property agent NSW Class 1 licence with either an active or expired license (e.g. Real Estate Agent, Strata Managing Agent) or equivalent in other states, with experience across all aspects of real estate business, OR 
    • Individuals actively working or worked in the Built Environment at Managerial Level 

Applicants must provide:

  • Curriculum Vitae AND Statement of service in one of the following formats: 
    • A 'Statement of Service' provided by the employer 
    • A completed 'UTS statement of service’ signed by the employer 
    • A statutory declaration confirming work experience (for Australian Residents only) 
    • An official letter from the applicant’s accountant or solicitor on their company letterhead confirming the applicant’s work experience or engagement with the business, duration of operations, and the nature of the business 
    • A business certificate of registration in original language and English (e.g. provision of ASIC documentation or ABN or similar documentation for Australian Businesses) 

For applicants who need to demonstrate interest in the course: 

  • Personal statement (300 words) outlining reasons for studying the Graduate Certificate in Property Development and demonstrating an understanding of the related industry. 

*Work experience is not restricted to Australia. It can be for anywhere in the world within the relevant cognate field.

Note: Applicants who do not meet the entry requirements for the Master of Property Development may use the successful completion of the Graduate Certificate in Property Development as a pathway, provided they meet the specific entry requirements.

Associate Professor Hera Antoniades is a recognised authority in the fields of Property Development and Real Estate Investment, with a career at UTS spanning many years. She is known for her teaching excellence in specialised subjects such as accounting, taxation, and feasibility, all tailored to equip built environment professionals with the advanced skills and technical knowledge essential for driving progress in the sector.

A former recipient of the Design, Architecture and Building Learning and Teaching Award, Associate Professor Antoniades is esteemed by both her students and academic peers. Her research expertise lies in forensic trust accounting and governance compliance within the property and legal professions. Her work has significantly contributed to understanding white-collar crime in trust accounting for property agencies, as well as issues related to property taxation, tenancy legislation, strata management, and occupational licensing.
