The below learning outcomes reflect the general pathway and depending on your choice of electives listed under each stream, you will further build on these to align with your career goals.   

  • Enterprise skills 
    Identify management issues related to information systems activities within enterprise and examine the basic technologies that enable business outcomes.
  • Database design 
    Critically evaluate database designs and the role that databases play in effective software applications. You’ll be able to effectively communicate database designs and implementation concepts. 
  • Artificial intelligence (AI) solutions 
    Compare and contrast technologies used to achieve AI solutions and apply data visualisation techniques to an enterprise data set. 
  • Technical knowledge 
    Get the knowledge to use in-demand, high-level programming languages in R and Python to write custom programs for analysing data. 
  • Project design skills 
    Gain skills in ideating, researching, validating and testing potential testing solutions. Design and refine solution prototypes, and integrate and communicate the outcomes of reflexive practice applied in the project design process. 
  • Project application 
    Apply your learning/theoretical knowledge and skills to your professional practice. Implement an enterprise-focused and integrated technology management project, evaluate its impact against appropriate benchmarks, and communicate the outcomes.

The Master of Technology Management comprises 12 subjects (72 credit points) and can be completed in as little as two years.

Students will have the option to tailor their studies in one of the following:

Course information

To gain entry into the Master of Technology Management, applicants must have the following academic qualification and professional experience.

Academic Qualifications

Completed Bachelor's degree (or overseas equivalent) in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Business Data Analytics, Software Engineering or others comparable to Field of Education (FoE) 02 Information Technology; or one of the following in a relevant field: 

  • Completed Master's degree; or 
  • Completed Graduate Diploma; or​ 
  • Completed Graduate Certificate; or
  • Completed Doctorate or Masters (Research or Coursework); or 
  • Incomplete coursework Doctorate; or 
  • Incomplete coursework Masters (1 year and above). 

Additional Requirements

In addition to the outlined qualifications, applicants need to satisfy minimum professional practice of at least two years full time (or equivalent), or alternative experience through their contributions to organisations and/or communities and/or start-ups and/or entrepreneurship may be considered.

This requirement may be demonstrated by the submission of: 

  • CV, electronic portfolio or professional profile outlining work experience, the dates of employment and position(s) held within the organisation.​ 

Assessment of other criteria:​ 

Demonstrates experience in a technology or enterprise management or professional role work integrated learning and contextualisation of academic qualifications.

Note: Applicants who do not meet the entry requirements for the Master of Technology Management may use the successful completion of the Graduate Certificate in Technology Management, Graduate Certificate in Artificial Intelligence Management or Graduate Certificate in Cybersecurity Management as a pathway, provided they meet the specific entry requirements.

English Language Requirement

English language requirements apply to both international and domestic students. Please refer to the UTS English language requirements for further information on how to satisfy the requirements for the course/s.

The English proficiency requirement for local applicants with international qualifications is: Academic IELTS: 6.5 overall with a writing score of 6.0; or TOEFL: paper-based: 550-583 overall with TWE of 4.5, internet-based: 79-93 overall with a writing score of 21; or AE5: Pass; or PTE: 58-64 with a writing score of 50; or C1A/C2P: 176-184 with a writing score of 169.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

Your previous studies or employment experience can be acknowledged as credit towards your online postgraduate studies, provided that it meets the relevant course requirements.

Applicants with a minimum of five years' work experience may be granted recognition of prior learning (RPL) for 24 credit points (four subjects), and gain entry to the Executive Master of Technology Management. An Executive Masters can be completed in as little as 16 months.
